Tool Belt Sizing Guide: How to Measure for the Right Fit

Your tool belt size is not your pants size. FUERI's official method is to measure an existing belt, not your body, from the start of the strap to the hole you use most, then allow about 2 inches more or less for seasonal layering. If you don't have a comparable belt to measure, wrapping a tape around your body at the height you'll wear it, over your normal work clothes, gives you the same number in a different way.
How to Measure Your Waist for a Tool Belt
Lay your current belt flat and measure from the start of the strap to the hole you use most. This is FUERI's own recommended method and the most reliable starting point if you already own a belt, tool belt or otherwise.
Allow about 2 inches more or less for seasonal clothing and layering, add if you'll be wearing more layers underneath in colder months, subtract if you typically work in just a t-shirt.
Don't have a comparable belt to measure? Wrap a soft tape measure, or a piece of string you can measure afterward, around your body at the exact height you plan to wear the belt, over your normal work clothes, not bare skin.
Match your number to the closest FUERI size using the charts below, rather than assuming your pants size translates directly, pants sizing and belt sizing aren't measured the same way.
If you land between two sizes, size up. A slightly loose fit adjusts down with the buckle or holes more easily than a too-tight belt adjusts up.
Why Tool Belt Sizing Isn't Pants Sizing
Pants sizes are a label, not a direct measurement, brands routinely size pants a little generously (sometimes called vanity sizing), so a "34" doesn't always mean an actual 34-inch waist. A tool belt goes on over those pants, plus a regular belt, plus whatever you're wearing on top, which is exactly why FUERI's own sizing method starts from a measured belt length rather than a pants tag, and builds in a couple of inches of adjustment for layering rather than leaving it to guesswork.

What if I'm exactly between two sizes?
Size up. A slightly looser belt is more comfortable under a full day of tools than one that's a little tight, and most tool belt brands recommend the same when a measurement falls on the line.
Should I measure over my work pants or bare skin?
Over your work pants, and any layer you'd normally wear underneath the belt. Measuring bare skin will give you a smaller number than what you actually need on the job.
Does the size chart account for the weight of my tools?
Not directly, size charts measure fit, not load. That's exactly why it's worth sizing up if you're between two numbers, a belt that fits snug when empty can feel noticeably tighter once it's carrying a full day's tools.
My pants are a size 34. What tool belt size should I get?
Don't convert directly from your pants size, measure a belt instead. Lay a belt you already own flat, measure from the start of the strap to the hole you use most, allow about 2 inches for seasonal layering, and match that number to the closest FUERI size.
Do tool belts stretch or break in to fit better over time?
Grain leather belts soften and mold to you somewhat over the first few weeks of regular wear, but that break-in changes comfort more than actual size. Buy for the waist measurement you have now rather than sizing down and counting on stretch.
What if my belt doesn't fit once it arrives?
